Summary
The QTI Group is partnering with a Madison-based nonprofit to hire a temporary HR Generalist to cover an upcoming leave of absence. This assignment will start in mid-September and continue through January 2025. Reporting to the Executive Director, the HR Generalist will partner closely with the HR Assistant to administer and coordinate all HR functions for this organization of around 115 employees.

Hourly pay range $30-33/hr.

Responsibilities:
  • Carry out day-to-day HR administration related to benefits, employee relations, unemployment compensation, workers compensation, and more.
  • Interpret policy to advise leaders on matters related to compensation and employee relations.
  • Partner with HR Assistant and Executive Director to guide employees through fall ’24 benefits open enrollment.
  • Administer employee benefits program administration including FMLA, paid leave, insurance and retirement plans; ensure ACA compliance with federal reporting requirements and guidelines.
  • Handle workers compensation and unemployment compensation matters.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure data integrity related to wage changes and adjustments in the HRIS system.
  • Conduct new employee orientation onboarding, as well as exit interview offboarding activities.
  • Partner with Program Directors on recruiting and training matters.
  • Interpret employee-related policies and advise leaders on how to apply in the workplace.
  • Maintain knowledge of current federal and state laws, organizational policies, and the collective bargaining agreement regarding employment practices.
  • Embrace and serve as a champion for the mission of the organization in serving developmentally disabled individuals.
Qualifications include:
  • 2+ years’ experience administering HR in a generalist capacity
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with employee benefits, as well as FMLA administration, workers compensation and unemployment
  • Ability to administer sound HR administrative policies and procedures
  • Exposure to HR in a union environment is a plus
  • Thorough understanding of federal and state employment laws
  • Effective verbal and written professional communication skills
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
